Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's

What is required to take the training?

  • An email address and access to the Internet are required, since the course is completed online.
  • While a music degree is not required, you must pass a vocal review that involves the memorization and singing of several prescribed songs unaccompanied and in a range appropriate for young children. The goal of the vocal review is to ensure that each candidate at least has the potential to lead a class in song. If there are weak areas in the singing voice, the mentor will instruct on how to build upon and correct these areas.

    • You will continue with your assigned mentor throughout your Fundamentals Training.
    • The average time for completing all required assignments and becoming licensed is 8 to 12 weeks. You determine your pace. The classroom closes after 15 weeks.

    • You will receive support from your Mentor and Learning Group peers during training and afterward, from Kindermusik International and the educator community through the online Teacher's Lounge and Kindermusik Cafe and local Partnership of Kindermusik Educators (PKE) chapters.
    • You will have "classroom" experiences during training under the guidance of both your mentor and contracting educator.

How much does Fundamentals Training cost?

    • Training is a remarkably low investment. An easy payment plan is available and the course is refundable (tuition and materials) if returned and received by Kindermusik International within 30 days from the date of purchase should you decide it’s not right for you.

    Other fees

    • To maintain your status as a licensed Kindermusik educator, there is an annual fee. The annual license renewal fee at this time is $130.00 USD (subject to change).
    • If you are setting up your own program, you will need to be prepared to make some purchases of teaching materials, instruments, and marketing materials once you have completed your training. Just as a chef needs the right utensils and a painter needs paint, a Kindermusik educator also needs the appropriate tools of the trade in order to provide an optimal learning environment for the children in her care.
